Major shipping increase thru Fastenal

The first motor I shipped thru Fastenal was a KH7 for $90, then  last year the cost went up,  but this year a little 63 lb KG7Q cost $200 and its only going from Oregon to Minnesota so it would be considerably more going to say Miami Florida, in my case I also have a 40 mile drive and $20 in fuel to get to fastenal and I had a pallet already and didnt need to buy one this shipment, because of all this  Fastenal isnt the deal it was
I have been relying on fastenal only costing $150 for a 4 cyl when buying off ebay or craigslist, I imagine a 4 cyl will be $300-400 to ship now.....this does change things...

I dont trust UPS anymore they have damaged far too many shipments of mine, both incoming and outgoing and many others here on the board have the same horror stories....what's our alternatives....any?

Michael: The price for anything NEVER goes down!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Attend meets, buy-sell-trade there?, & haul it home in your trunk? Shop locally, go drive or meet half way?, stuff like that is all I am thinking now. Thank God I am at the end of my collecting, not the beginning as it will soon be as costly as collector car stuff??. I had a gas station  which I started with my repair work & car sales in the early 70's, gas was 29.9 cents a gallon, a new Vette was $4-5000 & a used Vette was $1500-3000. I could even afford one & I had about 8 Vettes over the years. Today the Vette's I bought (55-63) for $1500 are now $75,00-100,000. Good days are gone, I am afraid.

I have had good luck removing the powerhead and tank and even boxing in the same box and shipping USPS or UPS.

Michael - it may be worth looking into further as I know of someone that just checked a few weeks ago on shipping a vintage Cub Cadet garden tractor from NY to IL and the quote came back $150 for a standard size 5x4 pallet with a weight of 600 pounds. That's about what it has been.  Since Fastenal doesn't have a published rate schedule (that I know of) we are kind of at the mercy of whomever we contact by email unfortunately.

I will send this to my manager at Corp.
Our rates changed, and she has been reviewing the issues in the program from the Pacific Northwest to the east.

we will see

Clearly we need to include a Cub Cadet tractor with each motor. [drinkingcheers.gif]
