AJ carb

Postby MartyA » Fri Apr 12, 2019 7:05 pm

Just picked up an AJ 47A carb at a garage sale ( 50 cents ) Bottom of throttle shaft broken but other than that complete.I cannot find where an AJ 47 is used, not listed in shop manual. Could it be for a Wizzard or some other brand ?

Also the standard Mk-25 carburetor for 1955.  Other than the throttle linkage, same as the ones used on the 4 cylinder motors.

According to this chart, the AJ-49 was used on Mk-30's and W25 wizard's.  It does not list the AJ-47 as being used on the 4 cylinder motors, and of course we know that they were used there.  As with anything, take into consideration the source.  I do like the page anyway.  http://discount-marine-parts.com/tillotson_aj.html

OK, The Game Is Afoot!!

Where is the MK25 model listed in the drill chart in our Master Service Manuals??? Perhaps a typo "MK35" in the AJ50-A / AJ47-A carb bundle? I don't think there was a MK35 moniker, just MK35-A? The MK25 does show up on the "Repair Kit" reference page....

Well after looking at all the data that everyone posted for me it looks like the AJ-47 is the correct carb for the early MK 25's and the two 1955 MK 25's that i have with AJ-49 carbs have the wrong carb. Looks like the 49 carbs are for the MK-30. My 56 and 57 MK-25's have AJ-50 carbs on them and appear to be correct. Thanks for all the help and now to find a replacement throttle shaft and spring.    [wrench.gif]  Thank again for all the info. Marty
