Thanks for posting the video.  I built one or two of the gearcases and supplied many with driveshafts, water pumps, bearing carriers and cone nuts.  These guys tend to bend up a lot of equipment and keep me busy.

Brings back memories at the lake in the 60's. We called them pumpkin seeds back then.
Thank you for posting, they get close to the rocks in shallow water.

Pumpkin seeds were small mono hulls, these are 13-14 foot hydroplanes build specially for river racing.  The run 40 Cubic Inch Mercury modified engines.

I believe they run 44ci engines... I bought a complete 44XS from a guy who only wanted the block/crankcase/crank/rods/pistons & gearcase from it.  The long block was set up for pipes, KC carbs, rope sheave flywheel and a mag ignition.

I snatched up a 1987 Mercury "Classic50" fishing engine and had everything I needed to put a 44XS back together.

They are limited by the rules to 40" Thunderbolt blocks.
Jeff Lewis who finished 4th comes to our time trials.  A really nice guy with a very fast boat. One year he even towed in another disabled racer with his raceboat.
Larry Darnielle (sp?) Grants Pass, builds a lot of those River Racer's boats.
The race in Grants Pass is good race to go to, the whole town is behind the race with a big parade, huge event in park with all kinds of vendors and a carnival . It takes place on Memorial Day weekend.

Ah hah...  Thanks!   I bought the 44XS stuff from a guy who said he runs river races in Oregon and assumed he was in the Cal-0re River Racing Club.  Maybe not.
