Al Lang passing & motors

Postby Jeff Register » Mon May 20, 2019 6:13 pm

Gentalmen,
My dear friend Al Lang old racer has passed. I'm going to go over to his home to look at his lifetime collection of motors, all for sale in Arizona. Al liked Merc's too.
His daughtor needs to sell the house so they need to go now. I have no way to lift anything because of my lungs getting chemical burns, I pass out trying.
Will follow up with photos to Michael to post. Al also has tools,
Jeff

Jeff, very sorry you lost your friend...  Been there a couple times helping sort things out and it isn't easy.  Hope it goes well for you.

Everyone,
Went to see Al's family yesterday & look at his motors. Mostly 30's & 40's OMC products. No race parts. Al does have a KG7 & KF5 though. Also he has an older looking Merc, about 10hp with a smaller looking Bendix mag. It has a splined propshaft & would guess maybe a Kd7 or older.
Micheal, once my wife gets home she will send you digital photos. What address should I use?
Thank you all for kind words as EVERYONE liked Al! So easy to talk to & so knowlegdable. He raced Speedi Twins in the Detroit river in the late 30's up to the 80's. Will miss him so much. Having a mass said for him.

Al was a fine friend from the golden days of boat racing.  I first met Al in the 1960's while we both raced on Long Island with EORC.  For the last ten years we would converse frequently on FB or other boat racing sites, he was always a gentlemen. His grand daughter reached out to us but unfortunately my brother and I only deal in racing Mercury outboard stuff.  Rest in Peace my friend, we will meet again I am sure, on the smooth waters of Paradise racing under the HPBA banner (Heavenly Power Boat Association).

Thanks Jeff for your prayers and efforts helping the family.

David, Alan & Micheal,
So many thanks as Al was my brother & WANT him back!!!  I have many VCR tapes & about 10 Cd's of Al racing & more. Once I get them copied I will send them out to members who want to see vintage racing & Al = Racing numbers 30-N or A1 as Al Lang. His daughter says he gets Christmas cards still from all over this world.
Michael,
Sent you photos, Thank you very much!!
Best,
Jeff
