Michael,
You are so right. I tried to serve but my bad back got me rejected. I fought for North Phoenix. God bless all who served! My Dad flew the B-17 & C-47 in WW-2
Many of his friends were shot down.

Every Memorial Day, our band plays for a very moving ceremony where there is a remembrance table, 21 gun salute, speakers, etc.  We play the Navy hymn, and many other pieces of music for the event.  It usually takes  up a lot of our day, but those we are there to remember gave up a lot more than part of their day off!  We were at a gas station today, and the checker was wishing everyone "Happy Memorial Day".  It was nice, but it didn't sound quite right.  My wife Elizabeth then said, they should be wishing folks a "meaningful memorial day".
